Applying custom filters to a single table

I have a set of chart and table pairs, where the chart summarises the data in the table, where I have set up a date range filter on the tables based on an x-range selection made on a chart. The issue I am having is that by using the filter functionality on any chart it modifies the filter globally across all tables. I have set up the chart event to only redraw the connected table but when sorting is apllied to any other table it adopts the global filter. is there a way to apply a custom filter to a partivular table? I saw this question and workaround from a few years ago but haven't been able to find any mention of a fix being put in place:
