FixedHeader AND a fixed column

Here's what I'm looking for - the ability to fix the header so that if the user scrolls down the screen, the header remains on display (I've implemented this and it works fine) - but I also want to fix the first column so that if they scroll across the page, the list of names displayed in column #1 is always shown, sort of like the freeze-panes functionality in Microsoft Excel.

Ideally I'd like to enable FixedHeader and FixedColumns, but it looks like DataTables doesn't allow this.

Does anybody have any idea whether this is indeed possible - and how I'd go about it please?

That would be the FixedColumns extension.

The FixedColumns extension allows me to fix column #1, but it doesn't work with FixedHeader - DataTables reports an error if you attempt to use both at the same time.

Any other ideas?

Clearly states they are not compatible. Guess you have to get creative
