Individual column searching select inputs

I see the code for this (https://datatables.net/examples/api/multi_filter_select.html), but what I am looking to do is take this off of the table and put it in a section above the table. I am unsure of how to do that. Would I append it to another table that has same setup of example table or is there a way to just build the select inputs for a single column and then just duplicate that for more selects where I want?
