Position scroller at startup before first draw

I am using ajax / serverside / the scroller + statesave. My datatable displays sport competitions (each with a date)
When a user loads the page with the table, it should automatically position itself at the competition(s) for that day.

So is there a way to initially position the scroller at a specific row before the table is requesting its first data from the server ?
