Improving column visibility to include search field

The column visibility brought by the new Buttons extension is great when you have a few columns. However, I'm creating a program for clinical analysis that should handle hundreds of columns and the current implementation simply lists them all.

I think this could be easily improved if the user could filter columns in the column visibility list through a partial match search. This way, I can present like 10 columns by default and allow the user to enable any other columns of interest out of the hundreds available.
