running a unrelated function is randomly clearing my datatable, goes back to default 'emptyTable'txt

Been having a hard time debugging this issue, but making some progress. I do know that it still displays 'no data available in table' even though i modified that text

"emptyTable": "No data available in table, try changing your options or refresh your browser if the problem continues."
}

Also typing something in the search filter and clearing it, makes all the data come back.

If there is any other info needed, ill provide. thanks!
