Hide table until search field is populated...

Hi

Is it possible and how would I accomplish:

1) Initially when the page opens, i would like that the table is hidden and the search(filter) input box is visible.
2) as a user types into the search box, then the table must become visible
3) if the box is cleared, the table must disappear...

another option would be to show the table but with no initial results until the search box is populated...
