Hello,
I'm able to use the TableTools plug-in, and both the CSV and Excel buttons are
generating a CSV spreadsheet. (Why doesn't the Excel button generate an .xls?)
Anyway, a remote user says that when he tries to use the buttons,
the generated CSV is completely blank, except for what he says
are a couple of cyrillic letters in the first few cells.
Has anyone ever encountered this issue before?
I tried to search a little in the forum, with no success.

I would like to have a graceful handling of situations like this, but I think it is not an easy task, as YMMV. Win7 has no performance problems with any of the browsers I have tested.
As why not create xls, Allan has explained that elsewhere (many versions of Excel, errors/notificatiuons confusing users). CSV is actually more to my liking. Windows opens it by default with Excel. As it is a text file, you can open it with any editor. In localised environments Excel is a pain, as it will drop leading zeros from text with only numeric characters, interpret some numbers as dates etc. You can import csv file to excel and define encoding and column types.
