Can I use scrollY without also getting a horizontal scrollbar?

I am having trouble formatting a table with scrollY, it always makes the table a pixel or two too wide and forces a horizontal scrollbar to also appear. I only have a single column and the table doesn't need to be very wide, but it always expands to the width of it's container.

I haven't found many examples for using scrollY, has anybody got formatting and usage examples where the table has vertical but not horizontal scrolling?
