order a table with form inputs

I am new to datatables and using the example found at https://datatables.net/examples/api/form.html
In that example, a datatable has columns which are <input type="text"....>

When running the example from the datatables web page, I expect that when I click on the up/down arrow in the column heading that the table should be sorted by that column. And this happens when I click on the Name column.

But, when I click on the Age or Position or Office columns in the example, the table does not sort.

Is this the way it is supposed to work? And if it is, is there a way to make it sort any column which is clicked?
