Search in ellipse

Hi everyone.

A quick question from a fresh Datatables user :-). Is there a way to extend the standard Search function to retrieve data in the ellipsed part of the content of a cell ? It seems Search function "only" looks at the visible part of the content.

Thank you for your advice !

Yep, columns.render can define different strings for display and filter, allowing you to control how that search works.

    Hi Colin,

FOA thx for your swift reply :-).

So to make it short if I define the "uncut content" as an orthogonal data and set the filter on this data, it should work, right ?

How are you creating your ellipsis?
According to the documentation for the ellipsis plug-in, "The data for the column is still fully searchable and sortable".

@Tangerine: without the plugin :-). Just with a regular substr() and "title" attribute. I guess this is why I need to use orthogonal data.

Thx buddies... I made it working with orthogonal data :-)
