parent/child table link fields

Hi,

I noticed that the keys used in this example are both of type int
[users--->site (int) and sites table ----->id (int)]

I have 2 tables and I am trying to apply the same model but the keys I want to use is a string [example RNQA/FP/AC/2021/1]
I wonder if this is possible

Yes, it shouldn't make any difference if your join key is something other than an integer. From Editor's point of view it is just a value.
