Description of problem:
I have a table that has 3 categories of items and I'd like to provide a way to easily switch between those. First thing that came to mind was SP as used in the linked example. But that takes a bit too much space - I'd like something "lighter" to just switch between categories.

Is there a better approach for that kind of simple filtering - or can I change the SP-Layout even more to achive that?

Hi @mbass,

The only other thing you could really do to make SearchPanes smaller would be to remove the title row using css. See this example.

Instead, I would suggest using buttons with preset searches. Take a look at this example, specifically the married button. It's probably closer to what you are looking for?
