How to remove filter box when responsive

Description of problem: I was wondering if I could please get help or be pointed in the right direction on how I can get the filter table to be removed when the filed isn't visible (under the +)?
I am also having an issue with the table displaying longer than the screen (div size), Is there a way I can fix this?

Thanks in advance and sorry I am VERY new to JavaScript and have gone down a rabbit hole trying to fix the issue.
