Why are different keys present in different language i18n files?

I have just been implementing multi-language support for our application and Datatables have been great with easy options and translations provided for the languages we need. However when we have been reviewing the translations we have noticed some inconsistencies and want to understand why and how we should proceed. Our primary language is English so lets compare to that.
The provided file for English is here https://cdn.datatables.net/plug-ins/1.10.20/i18n/English.json you can see all the keys are prefixed with s or o (maybe singular/object?) however in Russian https://cdn.datatables.net/plug-ins/1.10.20/i18n/Russian.json the keys are not prefixed? Then in Spanish https://cdn.datatables.net/plug-ins/1.10.20/i18n/Spanish.json there is an additional buttons section which is not prefixed? Is this section missing from the others and should it be prefixed?

What you are seeing is the "legacy" version (for DT 1.9 and lower) of the options. These are backward compatible with DT 1.10. Unless you are having issues you don't need to do anything. The Legacy Conversion Chart provides more information and a mapping from legacy to current options.
