More control over exported Excel file

More control over exported Excel file

Hi.
I'm using the buttons extension and the "excel" button. This works like a charm, the users get Excel files with all the columns. I have some columns that include currency though (it's Swedish, so the cell might contain "120 kr"). Because of the currency Excel don't understand that it is numbers and now my users are complaining that they can't use things like autosum on the columns in Excel.

Is there any way of controlling how the data in the Excel file is generated so I could tell it to omit the currency and just put the number in those cells? Otherwise a workaround for me would do to not include the currency in the first place, but it would look uglier in the table itself...

You can use orthogonal data to have more control over what's exported. This example here (from this thread), for example, changes a checkbox control to be either "Y" or "N" on the export. You can do something similar to strip out the currency symbol, and only return the digits.
